Publication of the article “Educating against misinformation amplified by AI and hypertrucage: a review of initiatives from 2018 to 2024” (in french)

While misinformation is nothing new, the arrival of the Internet and, more recently, the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI), including generative AI, have contributed to the amplification of this phenomenon. Whereas the creation and dissemination of misinformation campaigns used to be costly and time-consuming, AI now facilitates the creation of misleading content on a large scale, thereby increasing the risks of misinformation.

In recent years, several initiatives to educate the public against misinformation propelled by the unethical use of AI have emerged around the world. To guide research and coordinate efforts, this report presents the results of a review of such initiatives. Without claiming to be exhaustive, this review gives an idea of the variety of approaches aimed at informing and educating learners and teaching staff about this new reality.

This document enables the scientific community, politicians, teachers and educational consultants to consult what is already being done in different parts of the world. By discovering these initiatives, they will be able to learn about blind spots in research on the subject, possible program orientations or even ideas for complete and already tested activities to educate about this reality.
